Important factors to consider when selecting a pet include adult size, temperament, longevity, and diet.  The Leopard Gecko, Eublepharis macularius, is a common species sold in the pet trade.  They make excellent pets because they are small, hardy, long lived, docile, and readily available as domestically bred stock.   Adults can easily be maintained in a 10 - 15 gallon terrarium and fed a diet of crickets, mealworms, and waxworms.   (Photo: Joshua V.
