Reptilia's Film Division
Reptilia has participated in the production of both print and film projects where reptiles and amphibians were needed. We have worked with and appeared on Discovery Channel YTV, Discovery Kids, CityTV, Tree House, More to Life (TVO). Reptilia has also provided animals for Paranormal Productions (Psi Factor), and recently for Jack and Rose Productions (The Ballad of Jack and Rose - Released, March 2005). Aside from making appearances and wrangling animals for other companies, Reptilia is starting to produce it’s own series of films. Reptilia’s film division focuses on producing edutainment (education through entertainment) documentaries about reptiles and amphibians. These documentaries are fascinating explorations into the world of reptiles.
Although many productions focus on sensationalizing the animals and their nature, we prefer to amaze you with the natural wonder of the animal. The real lives of reptiles and amphibians are even more sensational than the ones that we imagine. Our documentaries capture these stranger than fiction aspects of nature and bring them to your home. Reptilia is currently working on a documentary about the experience of a group of Canadians exploring Costa Rica's rainforest for the first time.
Lights, Camera, ...REPTILES??
Do you need a 15-foot, 100-lb. python for a jungle adventure sequence? How about a couple of colourful tree frogs for a print ad photo shoot? Regardless of your needs, Reptilia can provide beautiful reptiles and amphibians that will suit your needs. Check out some of our recent work in the film, The Ballad of Jack and Rose.(Directed by Rebecca Miller and starring Daniel Day-Lewis).
Reptilia specializes in all things to do with reptiles and amphibians. These animals have been very popular in the media as a marketing tool because they capture the attention of virtually anyone who sees them. Even those who are afraid of snakes will be drawn in by the image of one and remember where and why they saw it! Directors, production teams, and photographers on the other hand, often dread having to work with animals. Our experience with animals and production teams will ensure that the desired shot is obtained with a minimal amount of trouble. Here's how one of our clients summarized his experience:
"Your expertise as an animal wrangler on the episodes ‘Chango’ and ‘The Winding Cloth’ made for smooth and problem-free experiences. Not only were the scorpions and snake perfect for the scenes, but I appreciate the extra effort you made to work closely with me and the director to insure that the animals would perform according to the scripts’ complex requirements. I look forward to the opportunity to work with you again."
- Stephen Levitt, Property Master
Reptilia does more than just show up with the desired animal. We consult the production team before the shooting date to ensure that the right animal is used for each shot and to make sure that we obtain the desired shot without taking up too much production time. Our fees vary depending upon the type and number of animals being used. Follow the link to our photo album to see some examples of animals available and contact us to receive a quote.
